Turkey Hunting

Today Coop and Nate went out turkey hunting for Cooper's first hunt.  He's officially 10 years old see he can hunt now!  They didn't see or hear any turkeys, but they had a fun morning.  Maybe next week.... :)

We were up at 4am, which Cooper thought was an adventure within itself.  Here was our view looking out kind of south-east from Moscow Mountain.

Coop setup in our blind at our sure-fire, no way a turkey wouldn't come here, spot.

Hiking out of the sure fire spot after getting skunked.

We enjoyed seeing mountain flowers and streams.

Spring is pretty awesome.

I dared Coop to balance on the log across this little dam in the stream.
It didn't take much coercing.
He wouldn't take $10 to jump in the water though.

We took the long way home along Lenville Rd and stopped to check out a few spots.

I had to talk him into leaving he was having fun exploring.

A Genesee sign you don't see too often.  Know where it is?

Coop found a stream that dumped into the Lenville creek and thought that was the coolest thing he's seen all day -- two streams in one spot.

A final shot of Genesee spring time.

This was just an exploratory hunt to try Moscow Mountain and so I didn't know what to expect.   I was kind of hoping for a little more than nothing, maybe to at least hear a turkey but it was a fun start.

  1. Fun day for you guys! Is that sign at the intersection of Lenville Rd and Genesee-Juliaetta Rd? I think I came across that for the first time last fall :)
