Fire Season

Well the fire season is in full swing! We have had a busy August so far with multiple fire and ambulance calls.  Here are a few pictures from our fire calls.

This was a wind driven grass fire that was spreading very quickly caused by fireworks.

This one was estimated to be about 11 acres as we were headed to scene.  I am not sure what it ended up being.  We got smoked out pretty good putting this one out.  The tractor went over everywhere we put out, but it was all black!

Worst picture ever and I don't normally take selfies, but this was for my kids who were at home waiting for updates from mom. :) They told me I looked weird.

This morning as soon as I heard the thunder, I told the kids we were probably going to get toned out.  Sure enough about 15 minutes later the radio went off.  This was from a lightning strike.  There are a ton of fires around our region right now.

I love fighting fires from the top of the fire truck.  :)

Elk Creek Falls

Today we took a family adventure to Elk Creek Falls!  It was a lot of fun!  Lots of hiking, spotting wildlife, swimming, and huckleberry ice cream!

We saw turkeys, baby fawns with their white spots, white tail deer, chipmunks, and fish.  We tried so hard to see a bear like the Meacham's, but we never did.

Getting ready to hit the trail!

Everyone has a walking stick.

There was a deer right on the path.

Charlie reading some interesting history to us.

Lower falls!

Middle falls

Upper falls where the kids got to play in the water.

Brave little girl!

After hiking a few miles, we drove into Elk River.  First time there since living here almost 11 years!  It happened to be Elk River days.  We stopped in for some homemade huckleberry ice cream.  It was delicious!  A good way to end our day trip.

Where has the time gone?  Summer is almost over!  We have been so busy.  Where to begin?

Nate has done some work around the house.  He added in a gas line to our garage so he can have heat in there during the winter.

A good friend of ours along with his company paved our driveway!  We love it!

And the walkway from the deck to the garage.

Our farm is doing well!  The baby pigs are really growing!  All five of our chickens are laying eggs!  Yeags turns 14 years old on August 10th and we are picking up a new puppy on August 20th!  Oreo sleeps, eats, and catches a bunny or mouse every now and then. :(

These cuties now weigh 225 lbs and 200lbs! Well on their way to make weight for the fair. :)

 One day old!

Two weeks old!  She is the one in the middle.

Three weeks old!

Four weeks old!

Five weeks!

We can't wait to snug her!

Let's back date to Spring shall we.  :)  Megan went with Cooper's class on a field trip in May to the Nez Perce Museum.  Oh my goodness I am so far behind on this blog as I look back through these photos. :)

Silly boys

A baby rabbit that was so scared.

Looking at all the grave sites.

Such a great class!  Now onto 5th grade!

Our PTO is amazing and got The Children's Missoula Theatre to come to Genesee.  Charlie participated and he was a sea pony. :)

Charlie had a great time playing up a year last year for Spring Soccer.

Charlie decided not to do pitching machine this year.  Coop played his last year in Cal Ripken Minors.

Nate enjoyed coaching his team.

Rather than playing baseball Charlie decided he wanted to do Gymnastics.  He loves it!

He said they want to test him for level 2.  How do we break this to him that I don't think we will have time this next year while I am in my second year of nursing school.  We will see I guess. :)

 Celebrating the start of summer!

Emma's first circus!

The summer fun continues on the next post.....:)  Hope you are all having a great summer full of fun, relaxation and memories!
