New Adventure for Megan

At the beginning of summer, the Genesee Fire Department offered a Basic EMT class here in Genesee.  It was hard to pass that up.  I took the class along with my good friend Tiffany.  With all my healthcare experience and being out of it for so long, I was really excited!  The course was about 110 hours.  So far I have taken practicals and passed those.  Now to study for the written. :) In addition to taking this class, I have joined the Genesee Fire Department and am also doing the Firefighting.  Something I never in my life would have thought I would have done.  It has been so fun learning new things, going on calls, helping people in our community, meeting new people, and I have to be honest getting out of the house.  I love my children to death and am blessed to be able to stay at home with them, but it is also fun doing something good in your community and giving back.  I have been on many ambulance calls and three fire calls.  I have to say it is a great adrenaline rush!  I am breaking in my new Carolina boots today. :)

 Landing zone training!

The kids all enjoyed coming out to watch the helicopter land.  They even got to go up close and see the inside.  Not sure where Pierce is. :)

We are getting serious now. :) First time in full gear.

And just this week we got to go to the burning bins for the first time.  It was pouring rain and dark.  We practiced what you would do if you were going in a fire, saw what the bin looked like at the different heat levels, wore all the equipment, crawled in bins as if there were a fire checking for debris and doing the left/right hand crawl.  Wow!  We were dying.  Might have helped if we turned on our Oxygen.  LOL!  My back and neck were pretty sore the next day.

Good times!  Next time we do this, the bin might be on fire.  Eeeck!

Emma's first day of Sunday School

Emma went to Sunday School this past Sunday and really enjoyed it.  She cried at the beginning, but then was okay.  She colored, put stickers on her paper, learned about Debora, sang a song about Fall and enjoyed being with her friends.  We had to stay near her the whole time.  We hope she wants to go back this next week!

"Red Riding Hood"

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house she goes.  Charlie was in his next play tonight with the Missoula Children's Theatre.  Auditions were Monday and rehearsals were all week with a performance tonight and one more tomorrow.  These children learned so fast and put on a great performance.  What a wonderful experience!

Day trip to Silverwood

Cooper still had his free ticket to Silverwood that he received last year for completing so many hours of reading.  We thought we would take a day trip a couple weekends ago.  We had a great time an the weather was perfect!  Emma only wanted to go on two rides.  The boys were tall enough for roller coasters.  We can't believe how big they are getting!  Cooper even went on an upside down one with dad.

Emma did not have any interest going on this.  Nate and I were so excited both boys were tall enough and we didn't have to go on. :)

All three kids loved the tree house!

Charlie enjoyed going with this little girl!

Emma looking back and ready to go.

Emma and Coop!

Mom's favorite ride!  Would have taken Emma on, but she fell asleep.

Cooper, about to go on "Corkscrew!"  He loved it!

School House Rock Live!

The last seven weeks Charlie has been rehearsing for, "School House Rock!"  Last year Charlie opened the show of "Alice and Wonderland."  This year he auditioned for, "School House Rock" and got the part of mini elvis.  He is adorable!  He wasn't sure he wanted to commit at the beginning, but the director talked him into it.  He started off with just one day a week and then we added a couple more days in and then he started going four days a week.  He loves it and has worked really hard!  Tonight was family and friends night and he brought tears to mine and Nate's eyes.  He was very nervous the first half.  The Civic Theatre was filled with people.  He did excellent the second half!  Tomorrow is opening night and there are three shows this week and then there will be three more shows next week.  Here are a few photos:

Performing at Alive After Five in Clarkston!

Mic is all set up!

Aunt Carol doing his make up.  Thank you Carol!  Yes, even the boys get to wear make up, otherwise you can't see them on stage as well.

Ready for the show!
Jean took this picture yesterday of rehearsal.  The TV set wasn't complete yet.  It looked great today!

 Charlie and Evie!

Melting Pot! He is looking right at Evie in this picture!

Emma ready for the show!

As for the rest of us, we have been super busy.  Cooper went to Boise for a week and had a great time!  We went to Yellowstone a few weeks ago with the Andrews!  It was a blast!  And Megan decided to take the EMT class being offered in town.  She has three classes left and will have completed almost 110 hours within the past couple of months. She has joined the Genesee Fire Department.  She has been on about four calls and is really enjoying it.  As for Nate, he is feeling like a single parent.  Only three classes left and then the studying really begins for practicals and the written exam. :)  She will be doing some training at Gritman in the ER in the coming weeks. Pictures to come of our summer trip, landing training, and more summer fun! We hope you all have had a wonderful summer!
